    Major Duties

    Under general supervision, the Custodian provides general cleaning and custodial support, performing detailed tasks to maintain campus facilities. Responsibilities include apartment turnovers, safe handling of supplies, and responsive custodial support for guest and residential housing units, ensuring spaces are welcoming and clean.
    • Cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies and cleans entire apartments and turns over apartments in various areas of campus housing.
    • Ensures clean and safe handling of all custodial supplies and responds to custodial/cleaning emergencies.
    • Operates and maintains powered equipment, tools, supplies, and materials needed to perform assigned duties.
    • Cleans and maintains campus floors, including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping; stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing floors; vacuuming; spot and full cleaning of carpets. Transports cleaning supplies to various buildings using electric carts and/or custodial supply carts.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Ability to perform comprehensive custodial tasks, including detailed cleaning of apartments, furniture, restrooms, and common areas, utilizing proper sanitation practices and maintaining high cleanliness standards.
    • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the duties of the position, and follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Ability to respond promptly and effectively to custodial emergencies, ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption to residents and guests.
    • Knowledge and awareness of safety protocols, including securely locking and unlocking buildings, handling custodial materials safely, and safeguarding assigned areas against unauthorized access.
    • Proficiency in safely operating and maintaining custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and electric carts, ensuring effective handling and distribution of cleaning supplies across various campus buildings.
    • May require ability to move up to 50 pounds.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
    • Classification: Custodian / 2010 / 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3680. The salary range for this classification is: $3680 - $4951 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. This is not a Telecommuting position.
    • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
