    Requirements

    MOS CODES: None

    Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree or higher in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in mobile application development for both Android and iOS platforms.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by the time of appointment.

    Special Requirements : Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in disqualification or termination: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor convictions, or open arrest warrants for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.

    General Purpose

    Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality mobile applications for Android and iOS platforms. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, ensuring the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

    Typical Duties

    Designing, developing, and deploying mobile applications for both Android and iOS platforms. Involves: Managing mobile app store platforms, accounts, and third-party publishers on behalf of the city. Collaborating with software teams to define app features, validate ADA compliance, and review user interfaces. Duties encompass writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, utilizing version control, and establishing separate development, testing, and production environments.

    Testing application performance, identifying and fixing bugs, and ensuring the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Involves: Discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximize development efficiency is crucial. Documentation of all programming tasks and procedures for future maintenance and upgrades..

    Integration of robust security measures into mobile applications, implementing secure coding practices, conducting regular security assessments, and staying updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends. Involves: Working closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure that applications are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with industry standards and regulations is essential. Innovation is encouraged through constant collaboration with colleagues to improve app functionality and design. Integrating APIs, third-party SDKs, and device features such as GPS and camera, and publishing apps to the App Store and Google Play, while handling ongoing updates.
