The
Department of Public Health (DPH), Family Health Services (FHS) is recruiting for a
Public Health Program Manager to oversee the activities of multiple programs serving young families within the FHS. Responsibilities include program planning and development, determining programmatic strategic and operational objectives and productivity levels, grant application and contract administration, and preparing, justifying and managing the program budget. Duties include, the following: determine internal program organizational structure; assign and evaluate staff; determine program utilization of staff; plan, develop, justify, and manage program budget per department and funding source requirements; maintain budgetary control; implements federal, state and local directives and monitors and assesses progress toward program objectives and strategic initiatives gather and analyze information to determine program needs and objectives; formulate procedures and protocols for program services; monitor progress toward objectives.

DPH - Family Health Services The Family Health Services Section houses programs that serve young families with a focus on the perinatal period to combat disparities and health inequities by providing early intervention, case management, and supplemental supports to foster well-being and equity across the life course. These programs include the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) family of programs including Black Infant Health, California Home Visiting Program, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, the Fetal and Infant Mortality Review, Local Oral Health (Smile SBC), School Health, and the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Program.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel/License: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Minimum Requirements Education: A bachelor's degree in Public Health, Public/Business Administration, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or closely related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent, professional administrative experience (e.g. policy development and evaluation; strategic program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation; contract and grant development, administration, and monitoring; budget oversight; and interpersonal, public, and community relations) in a Public Health program, community health organization, or closely related agency; of which two (2) years includes full-scope supervision that involved hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline up to and including termination. Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.(Must be attached if applicable.)
