About the Position:Provides exceptional customer service in a courteous and professional manner in the Library Services department within Community Services. Library Aides work a varying schedule that includes evenings and rotating weekends. This position works 4 days a week with a regular closing shift on Monday nights.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $21.84/hour. Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Two years college work completed.
- One year of public contact experience resolving various levels of customer service needs.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Essential FunctionsPerforms duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Provides exceptional customer service in a courteous, professional manner at Library check out, customer service, triage, call center, drive-up window, Library operations, and roves in accordance with CREST (Customers Receive Exceptional Service Today), the Scottsdale Way, and the City of Scottsdale’s Employee Values.
- Performs various library work functions on the library computer system.
- Provides initial troubleshooting and problem-solving to library customers and refers unresolved problems to the appropriate staff member or department.
- Checks library materials in and out, withdraws materials, and suppresses materials in the library catalog in an accurate manner.
- Works with customers to assist with self-check circulation, call center, triage, and/or drive-up service window or other service points to answer questions.
- Supportsother staff members by helping them complete their job duties.
- Maintains flexibility to perform other duties as needed.
Work Environment/Physical Demands- Bends, stoops, and lifts arms above shoulder to lift, move, and shelve books and other library materials.
- Stacks books on carts. Pushes heavy cart weighing up to 300 pounds across library.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, laptop, and/or tablet PC, telephone, e-reader, calculator, cash register, bar code reader, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Works at public service points and roves, which requires staff members to be on their feet for up to several hours at a time.
- Works a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends, and may vary from week to week.
