Department of Public Works is recruiting for a skilled
Programmer Analyst II to join our
Business and Technology Solutions Division. In this role, you’ll support the design, development, and maintenance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, helping to ensure the smooth operation of water, wastewater, and other critical infrastructure systems across San Bernardino County.
This is an advanced working-level position in the Programmer Analyst series. You’ll work independently or as part of a small team to support and enhance SCADA interfaces and applications, while also performing broader duties within the full
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including business analysis, programming, system testing, and support.

Benefits By Occupational Unit: Administrative Services CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Availability: Incumbents may occasionally work evening and weekend hours. Some overtime, on-call, or call back work may be required.

Minimum RequirementsCandidates must meet the following education and experience requirements:
Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college level courses in programming, computer science, software engineering, or related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if a Bachelor's degree has not been conferred
-AND- Experience: Three (3) years experience working in a production environment within the past five (5) years , performing systems analysis and project planning for the purpose of developing business applications. Experience must include the use of a systems development methodology.
Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience or exposure to SCADA systems, along with a strong foundation in systems analysis, application development, and technical troubleshooting. They will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of translating user needs into technical solutions. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and committed to supporting and improving critical infrastructure systems.
