    Position/Program Information

    Program Specialist II, CEO

    (Immediate opening in the Risk Management Branch, Loss Control and Prevention Unit)

    The Chief Executive Office (CEO) is seeking a highly motivated and well-qualified individual to fill a Program Specialist II position in the Loss Control and Prevention Unit of the Risk Management Branch. The unit provides consultative services and risk analysis to find effective solutions for root causes of loss, and training for all departments to ensure a safe and healthful environment for County employees and the public.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assists in reviews and makes recommendations for the development, revision and/or implementation of loss control and prevention related including safety and health programs, corrective action plans, policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices.
    • Assists in providing consultative services and risk analysis to find effective solutions for root causes of loss, and training to ensure a safe and healthful environment for County employees and the public.
    • Assists in responding to California Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) complaint letters, citations, and informal conferences.
    • Assists in addressing cost drivers associated with issues driving workers’ compensation and tort liability costs, including vehicle, general, employment practices, and medical malpractice liability.
    • Interprets State, Federal and local laws and regulations and determine applicability to County and/or County department operations.
    • Serves as a liaison, representing the Unit and department at various internal and external meetings, concerning loss control and prevention, corrective action plans, and general and vehicle liability.
    • Communicates orally, in writing, or through graphic representations and statistical summaries, with representatives from County departments and external agencies on subjects related to loss control and prevention.

    Desirable Experience:
    • Experience performing one or more of the following loss control and prevention functions: employee safety and health protection, corrective action plan development and/or implementation, and general and vehicle liability claim prevention.
    • Knowledge of Federal and State safety and health regulations and related County safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Experience in preparing, coordinating, and conducting training sessions in loss control and prevention or related subjects.
    • Risk analysis skills to find effective solutions for root causes of loss.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and County department representatives.


    Requirements

    Candidates must currently hold the payroll title of Program Specialist II, CEO or similar classification with the same level and breadth of experience, scope of responsibility and salary schedule.
