    Job Summary

    The purpose of this position is to perform manual and unskilled maintenance work involving public works, and at other facilities. This is accomplished by repairing water and wastewater lines, meters, fire hydrants, manholes; operating heavy equipment; maintaining equipment. Working in extreme weather conditions; and interacting with other City employees and citizens.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist and performs repairs to water lines by responding to water leaks: identifying the source of leak; isolating line segment; exposing and making repairs; flushing system; placing line back into service: operating all the required valves; always ensuring job site safety.
    • Assist and perform repairs to wastewater lines by responding to stops, overflows and collapse lines; identifying the source of the problem; flushing the line segment to clear the obstruction; locating the problem; exposing and making repairs; always ensuring job site safety.
    • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.
    • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency.
    • Experience: Under and including one year.
    • Licenses: Valid Driver's License required
