GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Park Office Manager, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) inventory and/or retail sales work. Responsible for the daily operations of the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park Store. Scope of duties to include, but not limited to: the planning, organization, coordination of and directing overall operations of a large park store operation; reconciling the receipts of a computerized cash register to include cash, check and credit card receipts; tracking park store budgets for operations and merchandise expenditures; managing and maintaining a large retail inventory in an accurate manner; hiring and coordination of visitor center and store staff and volunteers; promote a team working environment and customer friendly site; tracking the sales and inventory of resale products; ordering, stocking and product development of merchandise; maintaining files and compiling reports on the overall operation. Must be able to reconcile, balance and approve store staff's Financial Sessions at the end of the business day and use a computer to compile operational reports. Must be able to follow all state and local rules and regulations applicable to a retail store operation. Must be able to work with local organizations, vendors, and partnering agencies. Must be able to assist with park administrative operations and work in various weather conditions and working environments, including a swimming pool area. Must maintain a safe working environment and operate according to department safety program. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience :
Two years of experience in retail sales operations.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience :
Three years of experience in retail sales and/or food service operations.
Experience supervising employees and/or volunteers in one or more commercial outlets.
Experience working with the public.
Experience using a personal computer with Windows based environment.
Experience using computer-based Point of Sale retail management software with perpetual inventory components.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of retail sales practices and procedures, including budgets, ordering, receiving, inventory control; merchandise display and record keeping.
Knowledge of accounting practices used in store operations.
Knowledge of maintenance techniques and procedures needed to maintain the store building and equipment.
Skill in the use of general office machines and computers.
Skill in promotions and marketing of products and goods.
Skill in working with the public, volunteers, and coworkers.
Skill in planning, assigning, and supervising the work of others.
Skill in preparing and maintaining detailed records, files and reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work in a public park with day use.
Required to work 40 hours per week, including various schedules with hours other than 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Required to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.
Required to travel 10% with possible overnight stays.
May be required to operate a state vehicle.
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
