    Job Summary

    Performs skilled work involving establishment, layout, installation, and maintenance of landscape material per plan or blue print. Performs skilled work in the preparation, cultivation, and care of landscape material such as annuals, groundcover, shrubs, and trees in City of Orlando parks, facilities, medians, and rights-of-way. Performs all installation and maintenance per proper horticultural methods. Is responsible for the application of fertilizer and non-restrictive pesticides throughout the parks, facilities, and rights-of-way. May assist in propagating plant material at the City nursery. Is responsible for pruning plant material according to Florida Grades and Standards. Work is performed under the direction of the Crew Chief or Field Supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of related experience in plant installation required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Department of Transportation Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) or Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Basic Certification (Flagging) required within six (6) months of hire.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
