ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking highly motivated candidates with a positive attitude to apply for the Airport EVS Attendant position in one of the largest airports in the country - Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) located in Las Vegas, NV. In this unique and exciting environment, you will be part of a team working to enhance the passenger experience by making guests feel welcome and important by ensuring the airport and common areas are clean, comfortable, and well maintained to produce the highest quality of cleanliness in all areas by following established procedures.
THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in EVS, custodial work or housekeeping services. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application.
Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts, depending upon the department to which assigned. May be exposed to body fluids and other hazardous substances.
Licensing and Certification: Some positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Some positions must pass the airport's Badging Security Class with a ramp designation upon initial appointment and complete a Clark County Defensive Driving Class during probationary/qualifying period.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued IDs upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMobility to perform custodial and related work, including operating hand and power equipment; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Projects a positive image while communicating with guests and team members with various socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, in a friendly manner, answers questions, and provides standard information; directs guests to department’s Guest Services team when unable to accurately address guest’s needs.
- Sweeps, mops, dust mops, scrubs, strips, seals, buffs and polishes floors, vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas.
- Washes and dusts doors, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture; polishes furniture, woodwork and metalwork; dusts counters, windowsills, window blinds and similar fixtures.
- Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
- Cleans lighting fixtures and reports the need for bulb or tube replacement.
- Use of high-pressure washer and specialized cleaning equipment, such as floor polisher or ride-on machines, scaffolding or aerial equipment.
- Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor; corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
- Maintains equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition.
- Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
- Follows label instructions to mix and dilute cleansers, disinfectants and stripping agents to ensure proper strength for use.
- Reports unauthorized persons and other security problems.
- Promptly reports lost items, which may include high-value items, to the Lost & Found office and/or Terminal Operations Coordinators.
- Keeps basic records of work performed, time sheets, etc.
- Attends customer contact trainings.
- May assist in guest line queuing during high passenger volume periods and movement of guests’ luggage during irregular airport operations.
- May assist during planned and unplanned fire/life safety system outages; responsible for door and fire watch to ensure facility security on assigned shift.
- May set up meeting rooms and rearrange furniture.
- May guide the work of and/or train community service workers when assigned.
- May be asked to use technology in the day-to-day job functions, including use of department issued cell phones, radios or other computer equipment.
- May need to clean and disinfect areas that were deemed a biohazard clean up with proper PPE following proper procedures.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- May drive a department motor vehicle or be able to arrange for transportation to specified work sites.
