ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Information Technology Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the IT Facilities Administrator position. This position oversees the operations and management of the Clark County's information technology data center and multiple remote facilities in delivering reliable production services and maintaining a reliable enterprise infrastructure and communications network. As a member of our team, you will work with RPM on maintaining Clark County's computer room environment such as UPS, PDU, HVAC, and monitoring. This position will supervise and mentor Computer Room Operators and be responsible for a 24/7 operation. The candidate will be part of the Infrastructure Technology Team and report to the Manager of Technical Services.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related field AND four (4) years full-time professional level experience in computer operations managing information technology in a large mainframe-multiprocessing environment, including one (1) year supervisory experience. Professional level experience, which has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level, may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Supervises and directs operations staff on multiple shifts to maintain shift coverage.
- Ensures availability and responsiveness of information technology production services and the enterprise communication network.
- Assists in planning goals, objectives, procedures and work standards for the unit; provides input into the unit's budget.
- Provides long and short range planning for large scale modifications and offsite installation of terminals, modems and peripherals.
- Confers with County staff and vendors regarding hardware and software needs.
- Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of staff through subordinate supervisors.
- Evaluates employee performance, counsels employees and effectively recommends initial disciplinary action and other personnel decisions.
- Coordinates the installation of computer hardware, terminals and communication lines.
- Establishes production schedules and control procedures and prioritizes jobs for all shifts; establishes and maintains monthly and periodic run schedules.
- Monitors and maintains a large integrated heterogeneous communications network; provides support to network end-users; troubleshoots network problems.
- Interfaces with software and equipment vendors and communications carrier vendors; coordinates scheduled preventative and unscheduled maintenance; monitors vendor performance for compliance to service levels as provided by contracts.
- Ensures and provides for the physical security of the data center.
- Coordinates hardware upgrades and new equipment installations including communication circuits, personal computers, terminals and various network components.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, reports and resolves interruptions in processing problems with job control language and computer or hardware and communications.
- Establishes maintenance schedules with vendor maintenance service regarding equipment malfunctions and major system failures.
- Ensures computer output meets department standards.
- Analyzes current and planned network usage and makes recommendations to ensure adequate capabilities.
- Provides information and assistance to users and operations staff; resolves the most difficult operations and production problems.
- Operates and controls computer systems for batch or on-line processing; monitors and maintains system status.
- Contributes to the overall quality of the section's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
- Drives a personal or county motor vehicle in order to travel back and forth between various work sites, respond to emergencies, and to attend off-site meetings.
