School Nursing Director - Elementary & Secondary Education - Missouri Schools for the Severely Salary: $64,392

Location: Jefferson City, Sedalia, Springfield, St. Peter’s
Position directs the health care services provided in 28 Schools for Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD) and aligns policies and procedures for all state operated programs (SOP).
What you’ll do: - Leadership role in planning the essential elements of the school health program for SOPs.
- Keep current, interpret and disseminate relevant information related to health care trends and school nursing practice.
- Assist with planning professional development activities for health care staff.
- Monitor Comprehensive School Health Plans and special health care procedures for students.
- Supervise the training of SOPs’ staff in administering medications, special health care procedures, CPR and First Aid.
- Coordinate training for nursing staff to obtain and maintain instructor certifications in CPR and First Aid.
- Promote the development of cooperative working relationships between the schools and community organizations.
- Participate in appropriate staffings and IEP development conferences.
- Maintain knowledge of immunization requirements for Missouri; supervise the submission of required CD-31 immunization reports to Department of Health.
- Supervise the control of communicable diseases by conferring with school nurses and building administrators, interpreting regulations on exclusion and reporting diseases to the Department of Health according to state and local health regulations and school guidance.
All you need for success: Graduation from an accredited college or university school of nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse (R.N.) in Missouri.
- Two years of experience in school nursing.
