ITSD-DMH has an opening for a Senior Data Specialist. In this position, you will have the opportunity to create custom solutions which move and transform data to ensure DMH data accuracy, integrity, and availability. This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Mental Health (DMH).

- Primarily responsible for architecting, configuring, analyzing, and maintaining all data structures used for analytics and reporting.
- Design and implement solutions to integrate data between on premise and cloud technologies.
- Learn and demonstrate software products and prototype functionality to stakeholders.
- Ensure all data accesses, along with data at rest or in transit is secure and follows the best-in-class data governance standards.
- Create, adhere to, and advise staff of industry technical best practices, standards, and methodologies.
- Support the integration of enterprise application databases and real time processing into the data warehouse.
- Responsible for the full life cycle development, implementation, support, architecture and tuning of the DMH Enterprise Data Warehouse, including Data Marts, Data Lake, and data pipelines.
- Directly oversee the efforts of one or more contractors of various skill sets including software development, data integration, business or system analysis and project management.
- Write technical policies, procedures, and documentation for the systems including data flow diagrams, architecture diagrams, etc.
- Communicate with business users to elicit requirements for data integrations.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment using Agile methodology.
- Provide mentorship to junior level database team members in ITSD-DMH.
- Minimum 9 years in IT industry with emphasis in Database architecture.
- Hands on experience with SQL Server 2019/2022 required.
- Hands on experience with Cloud technology required.
- Ability to lead people.
- Database performance tuning.
- Database design, including relationships, indexes, views, tables and fields.
- Familiar with Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Strong data investigation and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, data architecture and design concepts with practical experience in the implementation of these concepts.
- Familiar with Agile development concepts.
- Experience with Visual Studio 2022 and earlier versions is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, have the ability to work on a team or independently, and have the desire to continually develop new skills and improve existing skills.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
