    The Position

    Quality Control Specialists review sample casework of public assistance, child support enforcement, disability adjudication/fraud, or vocational rehabilitation programs to determine compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures; identify errors and causal factors; investigate and verify case facts and information; and recommend corrective action or compile data for required reports.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

    This position supervises Quality Control Specialists who review sample casework of public assistance including SNAP, Medicaid, Child Care, TANF and WPR to determine compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. They also identify errors and causal factors; investigate and verify case facts and information. This current vacancy is located in the Program, Evaluation and Review (PRE) Unit, Division of Social Services (DSS), in Reno, NV. This position reports directly to the Chief and under general supervision will organize and oversee the day-to-day activities of lower level QC Specialists; train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and adjust workloads; implement regulations or policy changes affecting the work unit; provide case reviews for quality control staff; compile and review statistical data associated with unit activities from case records, logs, computer files and other sources and prepare requested reports; formulate recommendations for corrective action; and evaluate program effectiveness and implement corrective action plans. Moderate travel (typically up to 25%) statewide travel will be required and may necessitate overnight stays.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs, one year of which must have included reviewing the work of others; OR one year of experience as a Quality Control Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. Additional Position Criteria Moderate travel (typically up to 25%) statewide travel will be required and may necessitate overnight stays.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
