Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Missouri School for the Deaf Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 2022-2023 School Year SALARY - LPN - $36,120 annually (School-term position - based on working 209 days)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Prepares and administers prescription medications to students according to directions from physicians and approval of the Health Center’s Registered Nurse.
- Gives First Aid and PRN medication as appropriate and necessary according to the nursing process and standing orders from school physician.
- Maintains personal work schedules, doctor visits for students or emergency visits as approved by supervisor.
- Assists physicians with examinations and records appropriate documentation.
- Provides appropriate instruction to students regarding health care.
- Answer the Health Center’s switchboard and maintain harmonious relationships with students, parents and campus staff.
- Documents all medicines, treatments and education provided on students' individual charts and other appropriate records.
- Observes students and reviews records as necessary and reports changes in condition or behavior.
- Notifies supervisor and/or physician of appropriate concerns including emergencies.
- Admits students to the Health Center with appropriate documentation.
- P erforms other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED Licensed Practical Nurse : - One year of professionally supervised experience in a health care setting.
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with an application for nursing boards or possession of current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in Missouri.
- Maintain LPN license
- M ust meet the American Sign Language competency level of Survival Plus.
