    Performs professional-level work in planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating the City of Orlando’s Special Events and Traffic Safety Division within the Transportation Department. Responsible for coordinating with staff within the Division on all permitted City special events and traffic safety closures-including lane, sidewalk, or roadway impacts to the public right-of-way.

    Primary duties include reviewing and approving preliminary special event permits, coordinating and facilitating key stakeholder meetings, implementing Division goals, and assisting with the special event permit and traffic safety authorization processes. Ensures safe, efficient, and successful operations that enhance the overall community experience.

    Works collaboratively with the Special Events Division Manager, internal departments, and external stakeholders-including event organizers-to develop creative solutions that support the success of special events and traffic safety initiatives. Work is performed under the general direction of the Special Events Division Manager. Performance is reviewed periodically through both formal and informal meetings and reports.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field and at least five (5) years of experience in advanced-level management and administration required, including one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or other leadership capacity required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Polygraph and background check required. Excellent organizational, planning, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

    Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) or Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification required within three (3) months of hire.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
