    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Under direction, support the City’s communications and digital media efforts by creating and maintaining a strong online presence across multiple social media platforms to promote a positive, professional, and consistent brand for the City of Inglewood. The position assists with the planning, production, and publication of multimedia content-including video, photography, and graphic design-while supporting administrative duties such as budgeting, invoicing, and content scheduling.

    TASKS
    • Social Media Platform Management & Content Creation
      • Manage and schedule daily content across all official City of Inglewood social media platforms to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
      • Design and produce engaging multimedia posts, including short-form videos, graphics, and photos highlighting City programs, services, and public safety initiatives.
      • Stay informed of trends, tools, and updates across all major social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness and alignment with the City’s digital communications strategy.
    • Community Engagement & Field Production
    • Studio Production & Digital Programming Support


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Any combination of training and experience equivalent to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be an Associate Degree or Certification in Multimedia Production, including managing social media campaigns and video production, AND one (1) year of professional experience demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of social media and video production best practices combined with meticulous attention to detail.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
    • Knowledge of social media best practices, videotape and live streaming production techniques and processes, social media tools and channels; Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite, and operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer, pads, facsimile, and recording devices;
    • Skilled in archiving, asset management, and project coordination; the use of Adobe Creative Suite tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, HTML, and basic web knowledge and video editing; photography, design, and print production;
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize to stay effectively organized and maximize the city’s social media presence with limited supervision; coordinate and manage multiple projects with city department staff, effectively communicate with all levels of staff, problem solve day-to-day operations to ensure work is completed within time constraints;
    • Proficient in Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong emphasis on Photoshop and/or Illustrator, operating office equipment including computers and software, copiers, scanners, and other specialized equipment, MS Office software packages, and other industry-related software.


    THE SELECTION PROCESS

    Applicants whose experience best meets the city's needs will be invited to participate in the examination for this position. Candidates must have access to a computer with internet, video, and audio capabilities to participate in our examination process. The examination may consist of one or more of the following: (1) Training & Experience Evaluation, (2) Writing Exercise, and (3) Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must receive a score of 70 or higher to have their names placed on the active eligibility list for one year. The top three ranks on the Eligibility List will have their application materials forwarded to the hiring authority for a selection interview.
