    California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Opened in 1965 and set at the foothills of the beautiful San Bernardino mountains, the university serves approximately 19,000 students.     JOB SUMMARY

    The successful candidate will be required to (a) teach evening courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats in the post-baccalaureate credential and graduate programs including strands in special education foundations and instructional practices for learners with extensive support needs (severe/profound disabilities); (b) supervise and evaluate fieldwork activities, (c) advise credential and graduate students; (d) participate in curriculum development and ongoing program assessment activities; and (e) participate in scholarly activity and service. The successful candidate may be required to teach courses at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert Campuses.

    TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
    • Teach courses as assigned in the Special Education Program
    • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
    • Maintain an active research agenda
    • Collaborate with program faculty, fieldwork supervisors, and community partners
    • Participate in program events, candidate orientations, and required trainings
    • Participate in accreditation work for the program
    • Use Canvas LMS and other technologies to support hybrid or online instruction
    • Uphold the mission and vision of the department, college, and university
    • Model culturally sustaining and equity-centered educational practices

    Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Earned doctorate in special education, doctoral students graduating by July 31, 2026 will be considered;
    • Minimum of three (3) years of public-school teaching experience with students with extensive support needs (severe to profound disabilities);
    • Commitment to teaching, research, and service to the university, community, and to the profession;
    • Strong potential for research and scholarly activity. Higher education teaching and record of research, and scholarly activities required for appointment at higher rank.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

    Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application. Potential for program level leadership.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

    The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling (SRC) is one of three departments in the College of Education and serves over 400 graduate students seeking master's degrees and post-baccalaureate credentials in special education, rehabilitation counseling, school psychology, and counseling.

    Assistant Professor (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224

    Associate Professor (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523

    Professor (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
