    Job Location: This position will be located at the St. Louis area and is eligible for telecommuting.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program strives to enhance the lives of residents through advocacy, education and empowerment.

    The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

    • Become a trained and certified Ombudsman Representative to advocate and empower residents living in long term care facilities in St. Louis (South County), Jefferson County, St. Francois County, or other areas assigned.
    • Conduct visits at assigned facilities to assist residents resolve concerns they have regarding their quality of care and quality of life in the facility. Often residents of nursing homes feel they cannot speak up when they face challenges, but you can help. You can give them a voice!
    • Educate residents about their rights, community services available to them, laws, regulations and standards governing facilities.
    • Properly manage files and enter documentation into electronic reporting system in a timely manner.
    • Provide technical support and presentations to resident councils, family councils and community groups.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Long-Term Care, Public Administration or Health or a closely related field, masters degree preferred.
    • Highly organized with ability to set up and maintain processes and ensure completion of delegated tasks.
    • Provide highly detailed and accurate reports.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including comfort on the phone and presentation skills.
    • Negotiation and problem resolution skills.
    • Experience in long-term services and supports or other direct service of older adults or individuals with disabilities.
    • Time management skills and possess the ability to work independently within program policy.
    • Complete required Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program Training.
    • Dependable transportation and home internet access.
