    Position Description

    In accordance with Fresno County Personnel Rule 4310.4 , the County of Fresno is offering a rewarding and challenging career opportunity for an experienced, innovative, and motivated professional to serve as the Deputy Retirement Administrator.

    The F resno County Employees' Retirement Association (FCERA) , headed by the Retirement Administrator, is responsible for controlling and accounting for contributions and investment income under the direction of a nine-member Board of Retirement. FCERA is an independent association established by the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 and is subject to the laws governing fiduciaries. The Association provides retirement benefits for eligible employees of the County of Fresno, Superior Courts of California (Fresno), and participating agencies including the Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging, Clovis Veterans Memorial District, and Fresno Mosquito and Vector Control District.

    The Deputy Retirement Administrator, reporting to the Retirement Administrator, works collaboratively with FCERA's management team to direct one or more programs, which may include retirement benefits and fiscal or administrative operations. The Deputy Retirement Administrator oversees planning and implementation of goals, programs, and policies, serves as intermediary for the Retirement Administrator on critical matters, and coordinates daily operations to ensure staff compliance with Board of Retirement and Retirement Administrator directives.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education : Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related field that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system.

    Experience : Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience performing fiscal analysis, accounting, business systems analysis, or investment portfolio management, of which two (2) years must have been gained in a managerial capacity.

    The following information is in addition to the options listed above:

    Substitution : Possession of a master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related field that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

    License : Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalent.
