    This position will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey, 111 Fairgrounds Rd., Rolla MO 65401.

    In this division level administrative support role, you will be providing service to a wide variety of highly skilled and diverse technical staff, including geologists, hydrologists, engineers, soil scientists, land reclamation specialist and other environmental science fields. You will be joining a group of administrative professionals who strive to provide extraordinary service to both team members and the citizens of Missouri and are recognized for their contribution to meeting the mission of the division and department.

    • Serve as MGS Rolla Campus Receptionist: Greet and direct visitors who meet with division team members as well as visitors to the Ed Clark Museum of Missouri Geology. Provide phone coverage for the main division number and direct call to the appropriate team members. Sort incoming mail for Rolla campus and enter all received checks into cash receipt log on a daily basis. Provide back-up to JC programs for phone coverage. Will also process sales for a few items and maintain a small cash drawer.
    • Division-level Employee Time-Reporting System Timekeeper: Ensure timesheets for approximately 130 team members are submitted and approved twice a month by deadline, as well as error resolution and reporting.
    • Administration Program Support: Provide administrative support to include travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, etc. for the Administration Program Director. Process division level and Administration Program payables and purchasing. Maintain office equipment, such as copiers, printers, etc. Maintain the Rolla campus mailing center to include assisting other division team members with the postage machine as needed and ensuring adequate postage is available. Maintain division supply closet. Provide backup support to division’s Executive Office Manager located in the Director’s Office and all other division administrative support team members as needed.

    • Self-Management : Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
    • Interpersonal Skills : Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in primary job components


    Special Job Requirements:

    • Must have a valid Missouri Driver’s License
    • Must be able lift 5-20 lb. office supply items
    • Must be able to make day trips for meetings and possible overnight travel for training as needed.
