    Job Summary

    This Associate Director of Scholarships and Academic Support Programs is responsible for managing the support programs in the College of Engineering and for the assessment of such programs and other student success initiatives. The job duties include managing the college's scholarship assignment process and serving as the college liaison to the University scholarship office, overseeing student support programs such as engineering tutoring, assessing and reporting on student success initiatives, and evaluating trends and practices to improve student success and timely graduation. The incumbent will also provide support to the engineering faculty and to the Dean's office on the assessment of academic programs for accreditation. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assessment & Analysis: Assist in the collection and analysis of data for the ABET and ACCE accreditation process, along with other college run programs. Participate on the COE ABET steering committee.
    • College Scholarship Liaison: Coordinate with IR&A and COE Administration to collect necessary data and prepare for response to the annual ASEE national survey.
    • Oversight of Academic Support and Student Success Programs: Coordinate the collection and analysis of data pertaining to student success and support programs run by the college, prepare reports and provide recommendation for improvement or corrective actions.
    • Staff Supervision: Supervise the ASA II and student workers. Plans and organizes work assignments and tasks to be accomplished.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    The incumbent should possess strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written/oral communication skills to convey information to non-technical audiences. The person must have the ability to work closely and collaboratively with diverse populations of students, faculty and staff. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage complex projects on a timeline and demonstrated ability to work independently. The candidate must have knowledge and skills in using computer scheduling and planning and administrative software packages. Experience working with faculty and administrators is also highly desired.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience

    REQUIRED: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and four years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

    PREFERRED:

    Masters or higher degree in a related field. Knowledge of assessment methods. Knowledge of accreditation procedures and requirements and experience using data analysis software. Valid CA Driver's License preferred.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $6,320 - $9,014 per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

    Additional Information
