    Performs specialized community support for the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Provides mobile crisis outreach to individuals with mental, behavioral, or substance use disorders. Primary duties include de-escalation and stabilization of those experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed daily.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Education, or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications required within 1 year of hire. Must pass police background check which includes polygraph. Must pass CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) training within the first week of hire. Polygraph required with the exception of current OPD employees.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
