DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position involves compiling and processing data for entry into the City’s Infrastructure Management System (IMS), specifically related to work orders for sanitary sewer rehabilitation, cleaning and inspection contracts. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the CCTV and Rehabilitation teams to ensure project objectives and timelines are met. Responsibilities include reviewing cleaning and television work orders, investigating and responding to citizens’ complaints related to contractor’s work and preparing work order maps using varies GIS and IMS platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze sanitary sewer areas to issue cleaning, televising (CTV), and rehabilitation work orders for the sanitary sewer asset lines within the assigned area.
- Create comprehensive work order production packages, including detailed maps, work order documents, GIS data, and other supporting materials using ArcGIS Pro/Online, Infor IPS, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Update and maintain sanitary sewer GIS data to ensure accuracy based on field inspections and update attributes/geometry for sewer assets, including manholes and sanitary sewers.
- Issue and track contract work orders from production to issuance.
- Collaborate with contractors to finalize and issue orders, addressing any concerns or clarifications promptly.
- Perform specific tasks such as reviewing sanitary sewer inspection videos, creating specialized maps for unique projects, and providing training for new employees as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Five years of related experience, such as surveying, engineering, drafting and/or designing, are required.
Substitution: Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCESPreferences will be given to candidates with an understanding of the City of Houston's existing wastewater utilities, experience with ArcGIS online and strong interpersonal skills.
