    Job Summary

    The purpose of this position is to oversee fiscal operations to support the Chair in the administration of the State and Foundation accounts of the Department. Oversee procurement and invoice payment requests and fiscal record and data integrity. Department lead for new processes including work order processes. Serve as departmental liaison for faculty, staff, and administrative offices on fiscal procedures, ensuring compliance with university policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for oversight of departmental fiscal accounting including state side grant funding, 49R Foundation, Research Foundation funding, and other departmental funding (IRA & Course Fees, Student Excellent Fees). Create and maintain spreadsheets for all funds administered by the Department of Biological Sciences.
    • Serve as departmental liaison for faculty, staff, and administrative offices on fiscal procedures, ensuring compliance with university policies.
    • Student Assistant Hiring and monitoring - Post Federal Work Study Student Assistant Positions on CareerLINK, review applications, conduct interviews and participate in hiring process.
    • Supervise and assign duties to FWS Students when hired. Oversee student on-boarding process and ensure are new hires are entered into system.

    This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
    • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,799 (Step 1) - $6,992 (Step 20) per month.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    The ideal candidate will have experience with PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and MS Office, along with strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups. They should possess solid accounting and analytical abilities to manage department budgets and apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing complex fiscal tasks. The candidate must be able to interpret and apply detailed policies and procedures, resolve fiscal and travel-related issues, and work efficiently under continuous interruptions. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex financial processes are essential.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.     Education and Experience

    Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).
