    Introduction

    The City of Scottsdale is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Maintenance Worker II to join our Civic Center team-caretakers of one of the city’s most vibrant, diverse, and beautifully landscaped public spaces. In this hands-on role, your work will directly shape the experience of thousands of residents and visitors who enjoy more than 60 annual events at the Civic Center.

    You’ll help keep this signature destination looking its best year-round through high-quality landscape care, daily upkeep, and pride in craftsmanship.

    The ideal candidate brings experience in:
    • Keeping Civic Center spaces clean, safe, and welcoming by monitoring grounds, cleaning ramadas, and removing litter
    • Performing core landscape tasks such as pruning, planting, trimming, raking, fertilizing, and general upkeep of grounds
    • Maintaining irrigation systems, including adjusting schedules, repairing lines and heads, and troubleshooting controllers and minor electrical issues.
    • Safely operating hand tools, EZ-GO carts, and city vehicles
    • Accurately calibrating and applying seed, fertilizers, and herbicides.
    • Planting and pruning trees and shrubs using proper Arizona Landscape Professional standards

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $26.54/hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • One year of experience at the Maintenance Worker I level or equivalent experience in the areas of public works, grounds or landscape maintenance.

    Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
    • Within six months of hire, an Arizona Pest Control Applicator certification possessing Category 1 (Industrial and Institutional), Category 3 (Ornamental & Turf) and Category 4 (Right-of-Way) must be obtained.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
