    Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Manager

    The City of Loveland serves almost forty thousand homes and more than 4,000 businesses with care, foresight, and integrity. The city’s Electric Utility Division is at the forefront of grid transformation.

    In keeping with its mission, Loveland is now looking to onboard a Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Manager. This person will be tasked with performing and overseeing a variety of duties to create and assemble its DER portfolio and associated programs.

    The DER Manager, will lead the development and deployment of renewable energy programs, including battery storage and grid-interactive resources, collaborating with Platte River Power Authority and the four owner communities to advance the shared goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2030. This role involves guiding cross-departmental strategies spanning engineering, customer engagement, and operations. The DER Manager will oversee DER interconnections, virtual power plant (VPP) program design, and energy efficiency initiatives, while also helping to shape public policy and drive progress on the City’s Climate Action Plan.

    The salary range for this position is $113,684.69 - $164,842.91 annually based on experience with competitive benefit package.

    Qualifications include:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental science, or related field
    • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the electric utility sector
    • Experience with DER, VPPs, renewable integration, and team leadership
    • Strong knowledge of energy systems, program development, and regulatory standards
